Who we help

Each year LOST uses the proceeds from the plays to help community organizations, as well as UVic Law and Drama students in need.

In 2023, LOST raised $15,000 for charity. Proceeds from the production went to Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS) and Victoria Child Abuse Prevention & Counselling Centre (VCAPCC), as well as the Faculty of Law and Department of Theatre at the University of Victoria.

In 2022, the proceeds from the LOST production went to Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS) and NEED2 Suicide Prevention Education & Support, as well as a Law and Drama student at the University of Victoria.

The University of Victoria Phoenix Theatre’s prop collection was invaluable for LOST’s Dracula: A Radio Play. At the University of Victoria Faculty of Law (UVic Law) 2023 End-of-Year Dean’s Social, Phil Duchene (Artistic Director of Dracula: A Radio Play and LOST Board Member) presented Acting Dean Val Napoleon with a cheque for $1000 to assist a UVic Law student in financial need.

In May 2023, Phil Duchene (Artistic Director of Dracula: A Radio Play and LOST Board Member) presented NEED2 with a cheque for $6500.

In 2021, LOST raised $11,000 for the local charities: Victoria Sexual Assault Centre ($5,000) and NEED2 Suicide Prevention Education & Support ($5,000), as well as a Law and Drama student at the University of Victoria.

In 2019, LOST supported NEED2 (see above) and also Victoria Foundry, which offers a range of wellness services for young people ages 12-24, including physical and mental health care, substance use supports, social services, trans care and peer support.

From our 2019 play, Seven Keys to Baldgate, LOST donated proceeds to NEED2 Suicide Prevention Education & Support.

Every year, LOST also provides bursaries to a University of Victoria law and drama student requiring financial assistance.

In 2018, LOST also raised funds for the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre, a feminist organization committed to ending sexualized violence through healing, education, and prevention. VSAC is dedicated to supporting women and all Trans survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse, through advocacy, counselling, and empowerment.

In 2017, LOST further fundraised for the Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre, a charitable organization dedicated to serving the evolving needs of single parent families in the Victoria area through mentoring and education, parent coaching, and the provision of clothing, goods and school supplies, among other services.

In 2017 and 2018, proceeds from LOST productions went to TLC: Fund for Kids, a charity that raises funds to aid in the wellness and quality of life for all children in the Capital Regional District.
